Agnes Scott's Langford Named Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played March 28 – April 3 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Nikki Langford of Agnes Scott captured the Tennis Player of the Week honor.

Nikki Langford (pictured at right), a senior captain for the Scotties, went undefeated in singles for the week, picking up a crucial win in the Scotties' 5-4 victory over the USA South's Piedmont College. In the win, Langford dominated Tabea Soelter, winning 6-3, 6-1 to help the Scotties to the win. In the Scottie's 7-2 setback against Oglethorpe, Langford also won, taking out Delaney Abood, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(8). She now stands at 7-6 in singles on the season.

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
