GSAC Releases Tennis All-Conference Award Winners

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced their women's tennis postseason award winners today and senior Rachel Storz claimed conference Player of the Year honors to highlight the list of recipients. Britni Thibodeau of Huntingdon College claimed the prestigious Freshman of the Year distinction while her head coach, Ximena Moore, earned the Coach of the Year nod after guiding the Hawks through an outstanding season.

Rachel Storz, a senior from Seattle, Wash., completes a stellar career on the courts for Agnes Scott by leading the tennis All-Conference winners for the fourth straight year. Playing #1 singles, Rachel has a record of 12-2 overall and 9-1 in conference this year. Her only losses came from Shorter's Candice Laurent and Huntingdon's Taylor Clark. At #1 doubles, she is 11-4 overall and 9-1 in conference. Over the past four years she has amassed a singles record of 51 wins, 13 losses and a doubles record of 52 wins and 15 losses

Britni Thibodeau, a freshman from Pace, Florida, burst onto the scene this year for Huntingdon en route to claiming Freshman of the Year status. Thibodeau was 15-2 overall this season and 9-0 in the GSAC. At No. 2 singles, she compiled a 10-2 overall mark, including a perfect 8-0 in the GSAC. At No. 1 doubles, she posted a 9-7 record this season and 5-3 in the GSAC. Her only two singles losses this year came against Birmingham-Southern and Division II Montevallo.

Ximena Moore guided the Hawks to a sparkling 17-3 overall record and perfect 10-0 mark in the GSAC in 2013 to win Coach of the Year honors as voted on by her peers. Moore joined the Huntingdon staff in 2002 and became the head women's tennis coach in 2003. In that time she has taken the Lady Hawks tennis program to new heights at the NCAA Division III level. The Lady Hawks have placed third or better in the Great South Athletic Conference in each of Moore's 11 seasons. She has compiled a 137-70 career record as the head coach at Huntingdon.
