SALEM, N.C. - Mills topped Presque Isle 5-1 and Wesleyan bested Trinity Washington 3-0 to advance to Saturday's GSAC Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals.
Presque Isle jumped to an early lead on Millls on a strike from Nicole Cyr but the Cyclones responded with five unanswered goals to advance to face top-seeded Salem tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. The Cyclones were propelled by two first half strikes by Ashlyn Warny and two second half tallies from Alex Miller.
Wesleyan used a goal from Taylor Farnsworth just before halftime to take a lead over Trinity Washington. The Wolves sealed the deal in the second half on the strength of two goals from newly-minted Newcomer of the Year Leah McLeod (pictured at right). Wesleyan advances to face 2-seed Agnes Scott Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
