ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the women's basketball Player of the Week for games played January 18 -24 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Laniqua Collins of Agnes Scott won the honor after piloting the Scotties to victory.

In the Scotties' win over Rust College, Collins returned from injury for a 23 point, 17 rebound performance to lead the team to victory. Eight of her 23 points came in the pivotal 2nd quarter, when the Scotties erased a 14 point deficit and started their comeback. Collins averages 12.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
