ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played November 16 – 22 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Quntashea Lewis captured the weekly award.
GSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week – Quntashea Lewis
Senior forward Quntashea Lewis (pictured at right) has averaged a double-double in rebounds and points for the last three games Salem College has competed. In Salem's game against Virginia Wesleyan, Lewis posted 19 rebounds and 22 points. She followed that up with another outstanding performance at the Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament at William Peace College where she grabbed 16 rebounds and scored 13 points against William Peace. Then she turned around to help lead Salem College to their first win of the season against Mid-Atlantic Christian University with 15 rebounds and 24 points, earning her All-Tournament Team Honors.
The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
