LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Junior forward Jessie Blankenship
was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District team presented
by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA),
announced the organization Thursday evening.
Blankenship will now be entered into the Academic All-America voting which begins next week.
A native of Lexington, S.C., Blankenship has been a solid contributor both on and off the court for the Lady Scots. This season, Blankenship is averaging 13.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Earlier this season, Blankenship surpassed 500 rebounds in her career and she is closing in on the top 20 all-time rebounders in program history. Blankenship is also 61 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
Off the court, Blankenship has excelled in the classroom. Majoring in both Art and Business, she has been named to Covenant's Academic Dean's List seven times.
The national award is given to outstanding student-athletes from NCAA Division I to the NAIA. In order to be nominated for this award, players must have have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and be a significant contributor to their team. The ballot is then voted on by various Sports Information personnel within the district and then nationally.
