Finlandia's Season Ends in Loss to Carthage

WHITEWATER, Wisconsin - The Finlandia softball team ran into a hot hitting Bryanna Heckel from Carthage College, putting an end to an outstanding season.

Heckel clubbed three home runs in her 4-for-4 day, driving in five runs in a Carthage College 10-2 win over Finlandia in a game shortened by the run differential rule.

Finlandia's offense was led by Kari Jewett (Wausaukee, WI) who went 3-for-3 with a home run.  On the mound for the Lions were Miranda Brewer (Harrison,MI), 10-3, who went the first 2.1 innings for the Lions giving up five earned runs before giving way to Alyson Herman (Riverside, CA).

The loss ends Finlandia's season with a 25-8 record. A season that  saw the Lions win their first ever Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) tournament title and their first ever qualification to the NCAA softball tournament.
