ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports week seven Players of the Week on Wednesday morning and student-athletes from Huntingdon College and Pine Manor College were selected as winners through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors.
Week 7 Softball Pitcher of the Week – Huntingdon senior pitcher Melissa McClure
Huntingdon pitcher Melissa McClure (pictured on mound) earned four wins this week (Covenant, Wesleyan twice and Agnes Scott), including a perfect game and a no-hitter. McClure finished with 30 strikeouts, three walks, three runs allowed and 15 hits allowed in 24 innings. McClure also batted .400 with four RBIs, two triples and three runs in three games.
Week 7 Softball Player of the Week – Pine Manor senior first baseman Kaylyn Delgado
In eight games this week, senior first baseman Kaylyn Delgado (Worcester, MA) drove in 15 RBIs to help lead the Gators to a 6-2 record. Delgado totaled 17 hits in 23 at bats, hitting .739 on the week while hitting a pair of doubles a triple and hitting three home runs. Delgado went back-to-back with PMC freshman Chardonai Rose during a Wednesday sweep of Daniel Webster. She then hit a grand slam in a set back to Gordon College on Friday before hitting a three-run home run to help the Gators to a doubleheader sweep of New Rochelle on Sunday. Delgado also collected five walks to bring her on-base percentage for the week to .786.

Week 7 Tennis
Player of the Week – Huntingdon senior Katie
Scott was 3-0 at No. 1 singles last week and teamed with Micaela White for two wins at No. 2 doubles and one win at No. 1 doubles. In singles, Scott won 6-1, 6-0 against Tuskegee, 6-2, 6-0 against Covenant and 6-2, 6-2 against Spring Hill. In No. 2 doubles, Scott and White won 8-1 against Tuskegee and 8-5 against Covenant. Scott and White won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles against Spring Hill.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
