ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the spring sports week six Players of the Week on Wednesday morning and student-athletes from Agnes Scott College and Spelman College were selected as winners through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors.
Week 6 Softball Player of the Week – Agnes Scott senior outfielder Melanie Ennis
Agnes Scott senior centerfielder Melanie Ennis had a great week at the plate. In a double-header sweep over Covenant College, Ennis batted 7-for-8 (.875 batting average). Ennis had two doubles, a sacrifice fly, a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base. She scored one run and batted in 6 runs as the Scots earned two critical GSAC wins.
Week 6 Softball Pitcher of the Week – Agnes Scott sophomore pitcher Julia Blattner
In her second win of the season, sophomore pitcher Julia Blattner (pictured on mound) pitched 6 innings against Covenant College in a 12-0 win. Blattner faced 24 batters with 4 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Opponents batted just .174 against Blattner.
In two matches this week at No. 1 singles, Holloway was perfect, beating the No. 1 from Division II opponent Clark Atlanta, 6-4, 6-2 and winning Saturday against Gretchen Rowe of Covenant 6-2, 6-4. This puts her record at the No. 1 singles spot at 4-1 this season. She also earned a win against Covenant in the No.1 doubles with teammate Kemi Oyewole, 8-2.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
